The novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is about a young girl growing up as an orphan and learning new things. She learns to care for her, to take pride in herself, and to be a young lady.
The main theme in this novel is acceptance. Jane is forced into situations where she has to make choices for herself that will affect her future. She learns to accept that everyone has a dark side, and it’s strictly apart of them. She learns to cope with the fact that everyone has a past, and has baggage that follows them into their future, but that’s what makes people who they are. In the text, Jane is at a cross a road when she discovers Mr. Rochester has his ex-wife living in his attic as she is not mentally stable. She has to decide whether or not to accept his dark side, and the baggage he brought from his past to his future. Acceptance is a key to life, and we must learn that everyone is different in their own unique way.
